The 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck north of Kathmandu has so far claimed the lives of more than 8,000 people, injured more than 17,500 others and destroyed more than 300,000 homes. This is a disaster that has shocked the world and many organizations are calling for donations to help the people of Nepal, who have struggled with poverty, escape the hardships after the natural disaster.
Ronaldo funded brain surgery for a 10-month-old boy last year. In 2004, the former Manchester United player flew to Indonesia to donate blood to help victims of the tsunami after seeing a video of a young man wearing a Portuguese national team shirt with Ronaldo's name printed on the back.
This weekend, Real Madrid face Valencia in La Liga and Ronaldo is preparing for the crucial game with the rest of the squad. The 30-year-old then takes on Juventus at home in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final. In the first leg in Italy, Ronaldo scored the only goal in a 2-1 defeat for the Spanish side.
