(Baonghean) - When thousands of sunflowers in TH field, Nghia Son commune, Nghia Dan district are in full bloom, people from all over come to enjoy, it is also the time when the Sunflower Festival - Spring Festival of Western Nghe An officially begins.
The red basalt land of Phu Quy entered the festival day with a chill and a light wind of the last day of winter, the sun gently glowing on the rosy cheeks of young girls, reflecting on hundreds of thousands of golden flower faces showing off their beauty, captivating the hearts of visitors. On the opening night, Nghia Dan town square was filled with visitors from all over the world, filling a large area.
The joyful laughter of everyone mixed with the music, lyrics with the melodies of the Western region, along with the sound of gongs, cymbals, and festival carvings. All attention was focused on the elaborately decorated large stage with the highlight being sunflowers and mountain scenery.

After the opening ceremony with the resounding drum beats like echoes of a thousand years ago, the festival night entered the most anticipated cultural activity - the art program and performance of traditional rituals of ethnic minorities in Western Nghe An.

The participants of the ceremony were able to explore the origins and development process of the people in the West: In the past, the people with the custom of shifting cultivation, self-sufficiency, and self-sufficiency lived a life of poverty. Since the Party showed the way, the people's lives have become increasingly prosperous, gradually keeping pace with the lowlands. Today, the ethnic minorities in the West of Nghe An are making great efforts to build new rural areas. The colorful fireworks display brightened the red land, ending the opening ceremony and the “golden festival” truly began. Guests, tourists and locals happily lit the festival bonfire, drank rice wine, danced Lam Vong, jumped on bamboo poles, and played gongs. Nghia Dan district square was bustling with joy, becoming the shining center of joy, overflowing feelings of pride and love for the land and people here.
People from near and far have come here to the sunflower fields, witnessing the scenery and people of Western Nghe An, famous for generations as "good land attracts birds". Right on the first day of the festival, the spread of joy, the feeling of pride, love and attachment to the Western Nghe An land was clearly shown in the eyes of visitors from near and far, affirming the success of the festival, a premise for a cultural event that promises to soon enter the consciousness of people across the country.
