Lessons learned from the activities of the People's Inspectorate and the Community Investment Supervision Board

On the morning of May 20, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee held a conference to exchange experiences in improving the quality of operations of the People's Inspection Committee and the Community Investment Supervision Committee.

Over the years, the activities of the People's Inspectorate and the Community Investment Supervision Board have gradually promoted their roles, tasks and powers, making an important contribution to the supervision activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, especially in the construction of new rural areas and civilized urban areas in localities; investment projects and works from capital contributed by the people and issues related to the rights and obligations of citizens.

Thereby, contributing to preventing and stopping violations of the law, fighting corruption and waste, strengthening democracy at the grassroots level, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the people.

As a result, in the period of 2016 - 2021, the People's Inspection Committees in 21 districts, cities and towns have supervised 7,356 cases in many fields.

The main contents focus on:Implementation of resolutions of the People's Council, decisions and directives of the People's Committee at the commune level; settlement of complaints at the commune, ward and town levels; collection and disbursement of funds and fees according to State regulations, contributions of people at the commune, ward and town levels; implementation of preferential regimes and policies, care and assistance for war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, people and families with meritorious services to the country, social insurance and social protection policies in the commune, ward and town levels...

Through monitoring and verification, 2,414 cases were recommended to local authorities. There were 2,406 cases with recommendations that were considered and resolved by local authorities and relevant agencies.

The supervision activities of the People's Inspection Committee in the province have helped competent authorities recover the value of lost assets of more than VND 147,400,000.

However, the organization and operation of the People's Inspection Committee and the Community Investment Supervision Committee in some localities are still inadequate and limited; some are still formalistic and not highly effective; facilities and conditions to ensure the operation of the two committees are still difficult.

At the conference, from practical experience in the locality in leading, directing and organizing the implementation of people's inspection activities and community investment supervision, delegates focused on exchanging, discussing, analyzing and evaluating the current status of the activities of the People's Inspection Board and the Community Investment Supervision Board in the locality, difficulties, obstacles; shortcomings, limitations and causes.

Experience in the organization and operation of the People's Inspection Board and the Community Investment Supervision Board at the local level; creative ways in supervision activities; useful lessons learned in the implementation process at the local level. At the same time, propose solutions to improve the operation of the People's Inspection Board and the Community Investment Supervision Board, etc.
