The Fatherland Front of Nghe An province received more than 40.5 billion VND to support the people in the North affected by storm No. 3.

As of 9:00 a.m. on September 16, the Fatherland Front Committee and the Nghe An Provincial Relief Committee had received support from groups and individuals with a total value of more than 40.5 billion VND (in cash and in kind) to support people in the North.

According to the General Department of Hydrometeorology (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment)storm no. 3is the strongest storm in the past 30 years in the East Sea. The storm's intensity increased very quickly (increased by 8 levels in 24 hours) and maintained super typhoon level for a long time.

With winds of level 16, gusts of level 17, storm No. 3 became a super storm, devastating Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Hanoi... The storm passed at the same time as floods caused by storm circulation concentrated in the mountainous and midland areas of the North. Many areas in the provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho... continuously experienced flash floods, landslides.

Statistics from localities up to 5:30 p.m. on September 15, storm No. 3 and its circulation have left 330 people dead or missing (292 dead, 38 missing); 19.21 people injured.

Lao Cai is the locality with the most severe human damage with 125 dead and 26 missing; of which the terrible flash flood that occurred in Lang Nu village (Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district) left 52 dead and 14 missing.

In addition to human losses, storm No. 3 and its circulation caused a lot of damage to housing, infrastructure, and agricultural production. Nearly 232,000 houses were damaged; more than 190,000 hectares of rice, nearly 48,000 hectares of crops were flooded and damaged; nearly 32,000 hectares of fruit trees were damaged; 3,269 aquaculture cages were damaged and swept away; more than 2.6 million poultry and livestock died...

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the estimated material damage caused by storm No. 3, floods, landslides, and inundation is about 40 trillion VND.

Faced with the great loss of life and property of people in the northern provinces and cities due to storm No. 3, from September 10,Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An provinceChaired the call for Party committees, authorities, agencies, organizations, businesses, entrepreneurs, cadres, party members and people in the province to join hands to help and support people in the northern provinces and cities.

As of 9:00 a.m. on September 16, the Provincial Relief Committee had received donations totaling more than VND40.5 billion. It is expected that the amount of money and material donations will continue to increase as groups and individuals continue to come to the headquarters of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and other localities to donate directly and transfer money to the Provincial Relief Committee's account.

It is known that as of 5:00 p.m. on September 15, the total resources of Nghe An to support 12 northern provinces including: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, Son La, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Nguyen were 23,907 billion VND. Specifically: The provincial Relief Fund is 9.3 billion VND; the provincial budget is 4.5 billion VND; agencies, units, and localities directly supported 2.35 billion VND; converted goods are 7,757 billion VND. Today (September 16), Nghe An province will allocate the second phase of support to the northern provinces from mobilized resources.

Responding to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to mobilize support for people to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province plans to coordinate with event organizers, media units, and a number of singers to organize a charity music night to join hands with the North with the theme "Nghia Tinh Dong Lam" scheduled for the evening of September 20 in Vinh city.

The purpose of the program is to spread compassion, sharing and disaster response skills; at the same time, continue to call on and mobilize agencies, units, businesses, benefactors and individuals to join hands to support people in the northern provinces to overcome the severe consequences caused by storm No.
