(Baonghean) - Walking on the scenic road that still smells of new straw, the people of Hung Thong (Hung Nguyen) cannot help but feel proud when witnessing the changes of their homeland every day. Every person here is aware that they must strive harder to be worthy of the revolutionary tradition of their heroic homeland.

For more than 15 years, Mr. Le Van Ngu has been the caretaker of the relic site of the late General Secretary Le Hong Phong. As a member of the family, he always feels proud to be introduced to the historical days where General Secretary Le Hong Phong was born, and also the place where the steadfast revolutionary's love for the nation was nurtured. Therefore, in addition to his own knowledge, he also seeks to read more documents to improve his presentation skills. Mr. Ngu said: "I have to demonstrate my understanding of his life, background and career, and connect visitors with the relics in the house of the late General Secretary, so that viewers can clearly understand the spirit of a communist in the Soviet homeland." In his daily life, Mr. Ngu is an exemplary person, willing to help his neighbors and actively mobilize people about the policies and guidelines of the Party and State. For Mr. Ngu, keeping the revolutionary flame alive in peacetime is about setting an example for the neighbors and the younger generation to follow. “You can’t just give speeches, talk without doing. I like the saying: Each example is worth more than a thousand speeches,” Mr. Ngu shared.

As for the family of retired Colonel Tran Van Xuan, in order to maintain the family tradition and the children's success in their studies, the parents must first and foremost set an example in small things, and uphold the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in work as well as in life. Therefore, now that their children have grown up, the grandparents still diligently cultivate 2 sao of rice land with the desire to "grind a few kilos of rice from the countryside for their children to send to Hanoi", raise a few more litters of pigs and a few dozen chickens so that they can both work and have more clean food for their children and grandchildren. As a soldier, he always takes the spirit of exemplary sacrifice of personal interests for the common good as the top priority. Whenever he has the opportunity to meet the younger generation, he always reminds them: "We must keep the flame of the homeland of General Secretary Le Hong Phong. Therefore, we must try to set an example even if we are ordinary farmers, because a farmer who does many good deeds will make his children and grandchildren admire and imbue them with the ideology of a son in the revolutionary land".

In the spirit of innovation in a land that is full of hardships but rich in revolutionary spirit, the people of Dong village (Hamlet 10) today have made the most of external resources and promoted internal resources to join 10 other hamlets in the commune to urgently reach the finish line of 19 new rural criteria. Up to now, the people of Hamlet 10 have contributed more than 100 working days, each household 600 thousand VND, with a total contribution of 204.3 million VND to complete 2.9 km of intra-village roads. The people of Hamlet 10 now know how to "take shortcuts" to not only develop the agricultural economy of farms and family farms, but also know how to provide services to increase income. Up to now, the average income per capita of Hamlet 10 has reached 21.3 million VND/year. Mr. Le Van Toan - Head of Hamlet 10, said: "Since the policy of the whole people joining hands to build new rural areas, we have determined that new rural areas must change from the lives of each person, so besides taking advantage of external resources from children working far from home, the State's support, we always appreciate the efforts from the people."

Not only the people of hamlet 10 but almost all 11 hamlets of Hung Thong commune are competing in labor production, developing commercial services in the area. Many households have participated in developing models of farms, aquaculture farms, developing fish for the third crop. This spring crop, the average productivity of the whole commune reached 60 quintals/ha, food output reached 1,755 tons, aquaculture yield reached 22 quintals/ha with output of 59.4 tons. Up to now, Hung Thong has achieved 16 new rural criteria, striving to complete 19 criteria by 2015. In the first 7 months of 2014, the Party Committee and the commune government focused on directing the implementation of tasks of socio-economic development, national defense and security of the locality. Up to now, the whole commune has completed 5.4 km of rural roads, 2.5 km of intra-field roads, and the whole commune has 3 combine harvesters to serve agricultural production. The quality of teaching and learning in Hung Thong in the past year also achieved remarkable results with 41 excellent students at the district level, 207 excellent students at the school level, and currently more than 50 students have passed the university and college entrance exams.

Comrade Vo Thanh Hai - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: "Hung Thong is one of the first four communes in Hung Nguyen district to meet the new rural criteria in terms of transportation, lighting, schools and medical stations. The commune has started construction of the Memorial House for heroic martyrs with an initial capital of 2.1 billion VND, of which the people contributed 500 million VND. Currently, the commune is striving to complete the remaining 3 criteria this year so that in 2015 it can be honored to receive the commune meeting the new rural standards".
