On February 1, Mr. Pham Van Thanh, Deputy General Director of the Central Airports Corporation (MAC) said that in order to move towards a green airport terminal that meets international environmental standards, MAC is cooperating with Methis Environmental Company to install a 2.5MW solar power system to supply the new terminal as well as enhance the ability to control electricity usage.

This project has just been granted investment license number 321043000158 by the People's Committee of Da Nang City on January 15, 2012 with a total investment capital of 9.8 million USD. MAC provides the land, while Methis Environmental installs the equipment, ensuring that it does not affect the landscape of the new terminal, does not limit the visibility of aircraft landing and taking off... MAC will buy electricity from Methis Environmental at a price about 5% lower than EVN.

"Currently, Methis Environmental is urgently completing the next procedures to implement the project. According to the schedule, the project must be completed within 6 months and is expected to be put into operation from July 15, 2012. Da Nang International Airport will also be the first airport in the country to use a solar power system," said Mr. Pham Van Thanh.
