Playground or refreshment area?
(Baonghean) - Located close to Quang Trung and Le Hong Phong streets, near Maximark supermarket and Fountain Flower Garden, the playground in front of the 22-storey Handico apartment building in Quang Trung ward (Vinh city) has become an "ideal" place for many individuals to open beverage shops. Every evening, there are 4-5 beverage shops with tables, chairs, and goods occupying almost the entire yard. Most of the customers who come to drink are young people, and they drive very recklessly into the yard. Motorbikes and cars of customers who come to drink are also parked haphazardly here.
Shops and customers' motorbikes are parked in the building's yard.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, who lives in this apartment building, said indignantly: “The shops operating here have made it so that residents in the apartment building have no place to walk and have fun every evening. Every time we have to go out at night, it is very difficult because we have to weave through rows of tables, chairs and motorbike parking lots of customers to fill the yard. The elderly and children do not dare to go down to the yard to cool off, partly because there is no space, and partly because they are afraid of being hit by motorbikes.”
Surprisingly, although this playground has been openly occupied since the beginning of summer, local authorities and businesses still ignore it, or unintentionally assist businesses in occupying this common space?!
In my opinion, a playground is an indispensable place for rest, entertainment, and healthy physical and mental activities in crowded residential areas, especially in urban areas; local authorities and the management board of Handico building in Quang Trung ward (Vinh city) need to quickly resolve this situation and soon return the playground to its proper function.
