Cassava joins agricultural export products reaching 1 billion USD

Statistics from the General Department of Customs show that in the first 8 months of 2012, Vietnam exported more than 3.2 million tons of cassava and cassava products, with a value of nearly 974.5 million USD, an increase of 67.5% in volume and nearly 43% in value.

This is the first time cassava has joined the list of agricultural products exported over 1 billion USD, along with rice, coffee, cashew nuts...

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, since June 2012, Vietnam has exported an average of 244,000 tons of cassava per month, with an equivalent value of more than 83 million USD.

It is expected that the amount of cassava exported in September will remain at 244,000 tons, with a revenue value of over 80 million USD./.
