Typical rural industrial products: More motivation for production development
(Baonghean) - The Council for the selection of typical rural industrial products (CNNT) of Nghe An in 2014 has just organized a vote for 11 CNNT products. In addition to building the image and promoting the brand, finding the consumer market, organizing the vote for typical CNNT products also creates a driving force to promote economic development in rural areas. However, through the vote, it shows that the quantity and quality of products have not yet fully demonstrated the potential of the localities.

Honoring typical products
Thanh Thuy Cooperative, Nam Thanh Commune (Nam Dan) participated in the 2014 provincial-level vote for outstanding handicraft products with the embroidery painting "Swan Lake". This work was evaluated by the Voting Council as quite unique, highly aesthetic, with sophisticated details. Ms. Ho Thi Dieu Thuy - Head of Thanh Thuy Cooperative and also the author of the painting, said: Currently, embroidery materials are much more diverse. From embroidery fabrics to colorful silk threads carefully selected or imported from famous brands in the world, the embroidery profession has conditions to develop, meeting not only the needs of common use in clothing, but also being used for decorative purposes. “In 2012, my work “Hometown” was voted by the Council as a typical rural industrial product. After that, the Provincial Industrial Promotion Fund and the District Labor Department supported 30-50 million VND/class to train students in the handicraft embroidery class I organized,” Ms. Thuy added.
Also voted as a typical IT product in 2004 is Van Phan fish sauce of Van Phan Seafood Joint Stock Company, Dien Ngoc Commune (Dien Chau). After being selected at the provincial level, Van Phan fish sauce was also honored to be one of two products of Nghe An voted as a typical IT product in the Northern region... The company's products have been granted a certificate of trademark registration and barcode use according to national and international regulations by the Department of Intellectual Property and the Ministry of Industry and Trade...
This is the second time Nghe An has organized a vote for typical IT products and has attracted 36 registered products belonging to 4 main industry groups: handicraft products; agricultural, forestry, fishery and beverage processing products; Group of products: mechanical equipment, machinery, tools and spare parts, mechanical engineering - manufacturing (electrical equipment, machinery, tools and spare parts; group of other products. But through preliminary assessment, there are only 21 products with valid records, meeting the voting criteria; many products are highly appreciated by the Voting Council such as tablecloths, wall hangings made of brocade material of Hoa Tien brocade weaving village cooperative, Quy Chau district; rattan trays of Na Nhang craft village, Que Phong district; marble column panels of Phu Quy Stone and Mineral Joint Stock Company, Quy Hop district; Quy Chau incense; Cong Thao peanut candy - Do Luong town, Do Luong district... Through preliminary assessment of products combined with on-site inspections at production facilities, the Voting Council selected 11 products to achieve the title of typical ITNT products at the provincial level.
Development premise
According to the assessment, the number of products, businesses and production facilities participating in the vote this time is more abundant than the first time - 2012. The products participating in the vote ensure the criteria of the program such as bearing the characteristics of the province's traditional IT products, expressing the traditional cultural identity combined with dynamism and modernity, and having the ability to expand production to meet market demand. "Through the vote, it also shows that, in addition to products that have affirmed their advantages in high quality and have a strong consumer market such as fish sauce, incense, and incense; new products using abundant local raw materials are being favored by the market and have the potential to develop strongly in the coming time.
For products that have not won awards, we also know the defects and weaknesses of the products so that the establishments can self-evaluate, improve, and increase their competitiveness..." - Mr. Hoang Van Dien - Head of the Industrial Promotion Department, Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting Center said. Especially through voting, many businesses have more opportunities to promote their products; thereby having the opportunity to promote trade, find partners to expand the market, develop production and business. For example, at the Northern region level organized in early October 2004, Nghe An participated in 4 products, 2 of which were Van Phan fish sauce and Marble column panels were honored and attended the Northern region Industrial Technology Products Exhibition in Yen Bai province.
Here, customers prefer products of Van Phan Seafood Joint Stock Company. Therefore, this unit has sold out more than 200 liters of premium fish sauce in the first 2 days of attending the exhibition. On the other hand, according to Decision No. 93/2013/QD-UBND dated December 31, 2013 on promulgating the Regulations on voting for typical industrial products in Nghe An province, after being recognized as typical products, in addition to the reward worth 1 million VND for commune level, 2 million VND for district level and 5 million VND for provincial level, the products will also be given priority to consider support from the province's industrial promotion fund and other support according to the State's regulations.
However, in addition to the results achieved, through the voting, there have been limitations that need to be overcome. Mr. Hoang Van Tam - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade emphasized: Some localities have not proactively implemented and are not resolute in directing the program of voting for typical rural industrial products; the number of participating establishments is still small, the industries are not diverse, and the potential of rural industrial products in the locality has not been fully demonstrated. Some participating products are still limited in terms of design, packaging, sketchy participation documents, low revenue, no potential for production development, market expansion...
Thus, in order for more products to participate in the following years and for the organization of the voting for rural industrial products to truly become a premise for many establishments to expand, produce and do business, the role of the Department of Industry and Trade is very important. In addition to supporting vocational training establishments and enterprises, it is necessary to help them grasp and access the policies, mechanisms and policies of the State and the province on encouraging the development of rural industrial production; innovating technology, creating new products, expanding markets... On the other hand, production establishments need to pay more attention to building and developing product brands, at the same time, proactively updating information, learning management skills and knowledge, and boldly investing so that products have a market. The State has policies to encourage the development of typical products, localities need to have orientations for the development of their local products associated with the development of industry and handicrafts. Only then can it truly be the driving force for the development of the rural economy.
