Ms. Loan suffered from secondary infertility due to blocked fallopian tubes. The journey to have a second child for Ms. Nguyen Thi Loan and Mr. Hoang Ngoc Chau (Nghi Loc district) lasted for 4 years. They thought that they would have to find a chance to have a child by using IVF, but fortunately, Deputy Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien, applied a new method to clear blocked fallopian tubes. That is dilating the fallopian tubes with a catheter through hysteroscopy combined with laparoscopy.
With this method, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien and the doctors inserted a catheter to clear the blocked fallopian tube under the magnification of a modern endoscope... Immediately after performing the technique, Ms. Loan's two fallopian tubes were completely cleared and after only nearly 3 months, Ms. Loan conceived naturally. It is known that Ms. Loan is the first patient to receive this new surgical method in Vietnam.

The successful implementation of the new method of unblocking will help many women with blocked fallopian tubes that cause infertility and sterility to have children naturally. The advantage of this method is the low technical cost (only equal to a normal laparoscopic surgery). Patients with difficult economic circumstances who cannot afford the large cost of IVF have more options to choose to have a natural pregnancy.
In Vietnam today, the rate of infertility due to fallopian tubes accounts for 43% - 59%. Of which, infertility due to interstitial fallopian tube obstruction accounts for 15% - 25%. After one year of implementation, about 100 women have been treated with this new technique. Nghe An General Hospital has made a plan to request the transfer of this technique. If favorable, the hospital will implement it in 2019 to reduce costs and travel for infertile couples./.
