Rach Gia Stadium, K.KG-SLNA: Heartbreaking for the home team

July 23, 2012 07:04

Before entering the match with SLNA, the leaders of K.KG Club were very worried because they were not an opponent to bully, and in fact, the match at Rach Gia Stadium yesterday afternoon happened exactly as K.KG feared, when the home team players were completely helpless and deadlocked against the opponent.

Right after the referee's whistle, both teams entered the match fiercely. Although SLNA had no hope of winning the championship, they still needed 3 points to improve their ranking, while K.KG needed 3 points more than ever to escape the danger zone. In the 7th minute, the opening goal of the match was scored for SLNA with a neat header by Hoang Thinh after Trong Hoang's dribbling effort and an accurate pass, eliminating the entire defense and TM Van Hung.

K.KG's early loss reminded home fans of the previous afternoon when their neighbor TDCS.DT also collapsed early on their home field against SG.XT. On the field, K.KG players controlled the ball a lot, but the midfield lacked accurate passes.

In the 19th minute, Van Cuong had a good chance when he dribbled into the 16m50 box, but Hector blocked it in time. In the 27th minute, the score was doubled when Bebbe escaped down the left wing, crossed the ball into the middle and Van Binh tapped the ball close to the goal, raising the score to 2-0 for SLNA.

In the 41st minute, Viet Dan and Joseph consecutively fired 2 shots but both were unsuccessful, then in the 44th minute, Oseni hesitated when finishing the ball before 3 yellow shirts rushed to block. In the 2nd half, Coach Lai Hong Van of K.KG immediately sent 2 new players onto the field with the intention of strengthening the attack.

But the players playing in the K.KG midfield were not strong enough to avoid challenges or create accurate passes for teammates. In the 53rd minute, Hoai Nam had a close-range header, but the ball went over the crossbar.

In the 55th minute, Trong Hoang passed the ball well for Van Binh to escape but TM Van Hung was able to rush out to close the angle. In the 70th minute, Van Binh escaped and quickly shot but the shot was too inaccurate.

In the 73rd minute, Hoai Nam once again missed the opportunity to shorten the gap, when his powerful shot failed to beat TM Nguyen Manh's hands. In the 87th minute, the storm arose in front of the away team's goal with 3 consecutive shots from Oseni, Daaldyron, Hai Thinh then bounced off the yellow "forest of legs".

K.KG failed to find a consolation goal, but in the 90th minute, they conceded a third goal after a goal by substitute Dickson.

With a 0-3 defeat, the relegation door is even narrower for the team from the Southwest coast.

*After the match between host Kienlongbank Kien Giang and Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) on the afternoon of July 22 in Rach Gia, when the car carrying SLNA fans was about to leave, the crowd outside the stadium threw rocks, breaking the glass.

Immediately, SLNA fans got out of the car and arrested some young fans suspected of throwing rocks onto the car and took them to the nearby An Binh Ward Police Station for handling.

The incident angered the crowd of Kien Giang fans, especially when it was reported that SLNA fans also beat young fans suspected of throwing rocks.

They followed them to An Binh Ward Police Station, stood in large numbers outside, and threatened to not let them be while SLNA fans sat in groups in the An Binh Ward Police Station to wait for statements and to resolve the incident.

A police officer said: "The young fans suspected of throwing rocks were actually just lottery ticket sellers, not fans of the Kien Giang football team. The unfortunate incident was partly the fault of SLNA fans as they cheered too much!"

Meanwhile, SLNA fans said that among the fans who broke the car windows, there were Kien Giang fans when they filmed a clip showing a fan wearing a Kien Giang shirt breaking the car windows.

After about two hours at the ward police station, the car carrying SLNA fans was escorted by security forces from Rach Gia to return to Ho Chi Minh City at 8:30 p.m.
