The lucky $2 bill was printed and issued by the US Treasury on December 2, 2014 to celebrate the Lunar New Year of Asian people and has no circulation value. In addition to the light blue color of the real bill, this special edition of the $2 bill also has a colorful color. On the right side of the bill, there is a gold-plated image of two goats.

Each bill is contained in a luxurious leather case, inside is a certified business card from the US Treasury Department.
Currently, some online money trading and money exchange stores have accepted orders for this banknote via hand-carried routes.
The bill comes in a plastic bag and is certified by the US Treasury. |
Mr. Nguyen Van Linh, owner of a website specializing in exchanging lucky money, said that nearly 300 people have ordered $2 bills with a goat image in the US. It is expected that by mid-January, the $2 bills with a goat image will arrive in Vietnam. Mr. Linh estimates that this Tet, his shop will sell about 3,000 of these bills.
“Currently, the selling price of a $2 bill with a goat printed on it in the US is nearly 300,000 VND/bill. When brought back to Vietnam by hand-carry, the price increases to 400,000 VND/bill. Each time you bring back home, you can only bring 100 bills,” said Mr. Linh.

Meanwhile, having just bought 5 $2 bills with the image of a goat, Mr. Le Lai (living in District 3) was very happy, he boasted: “The goat-shaped bills mean peace and health. Because they are issued in limited quantities, the money to buy these bills is also worth it. I will keep some for my collection, and the rest will be given to my loved ones during the upcoming Tet holiday.”
In addition, a $2 bill with President Obama's image printed on it is being sold for VND350,000 per bill. |
Besides the $2 bill with the image of a goat, the symbol of the Year of the Goat 2015, there are also $2 bills with the image of US President Obama and gold-plated USD bills on the market. However, according to research, the 2015 version of the $2 bill is still the most sought after.
This year's gold-plated USD bills are no longer considered as "hot" as last year, currently only 10,000 - 25,000 VND/bill./. |
