Highland products prepare for Tet

(Baonghean.vn) - The mountainous region with typical products such as black chicken, beef rump, squash, taro, ginger... is trusted by consumers as clean food, and is being cared for, stored, and supplied to the market by ethnic people during Tet.

Black chicken and Mong chicken are popular foods among consumers. During Tet, people often sell chickens to earn money for spending, but the quantity is not much because people raise them on a small scale. Black chicken weighs from 1.4 - 1.6 kg/chicken, currently sold for 150,000 VND/kg.

Mong cows are mainly raised in a free-range manner, so the meat quality is delicious and is popular with customers. Near Tet, traders go up to Ky Son and Tuong Duong to buy and slaughter, supplying fresh food to the market.

Many Mong families in Ky Son save the whole persimmon tree full of fruit to pick and sell during Tet.

Persimmons are not only used for Tet offerings but are also delicious and nutritious.

Green squash is grown in large quantities in Tuong Duong and Ky Son. Although it has been harvested since October, many traders stock up to sell during Tet. The Mong people in Ky Son mainly grow green squash in corn and rice fields. During the squash harvest season, in Muong Xen town, there are about 5 places to buy squash for people. Of the amount of squash purchased, traders only keep about 1/3 of the fruit to sell during Tet.

Taro is also a highland product of Ky Son, Tuong Duong... that is popular with customers during Tet.

In addition to the mustard greens grown by the Mong people on the high mountains, the Youth Volunteer Team 8 - Huoi Tu Commune, Ky Son also grows other types of mustard greens to serve as green vegetables for the upcoming Tet holiday.

Ginger is grown a lot in Ky Son land, because of its guaranteed quality, this product is consumed strongly, many traders buy in large quantities, of which they store a part to supply the Tet market.
