(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, April 18, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a conference to deploy the summer-autumn production project for the 2013 season. Comrade Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended and directed the conference.
With the target of achieving 435 thousand tons of food, this year's summer-autumn crop, the whole province strives to plant 97 thousand hectares of rice, 16 thousand hectares of corn and 24 thousand hectares of other crops. With the characteristic of a difficult production season due to complicated weather, summer-autumn production often encounters drought at the beginning of the season and floods at the end of the season, in order to achieve the set target, the agricultural sector has proposed specific plans, suitable to the actual conditions of each region and each type of crop, arranging the structure of crop varieties and reasonable seasons to ensure safe and effective production, in which the safety goal is placed above all. Prioritizing the arrangement of short-term rice varieties, both high yield and good quality, sowing and transplanting 100% of the area and conducting seed treatment before sowing, spraying to prevent planthoppers from entering the seedling fields and spraying pesticides to prevent planthoppers from entering the seedling fields.
Concluding the conference, comrade Dinh Viet Hong noted: The weather situation this year is very unusual, agricultural production will face many difficulties. In particular, the water source on Lam River and dams is at a very low level, irrigation units and localities need to have plans to regulate, operate and use water reasonably and economically; do a good job of forecasting and preventing pests and diseases. In particular, according to forecasts, this year storms and floods will come early, localities must strictly follow the crop calendar to avoid natural disasters for production./.
