According to statistics website worldometers.info, as of 8:00 a.m. on June 12 (Vietnam time), the world recorded 176,026,374 cases of Covid-19, including 3,800,087 deaths. The number of patients cured was 159,929,013 cases.

The US remains the hardest-hit country with 14,928 new infections and 406 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases and deaths to 34,305,280 and 614,717, respectively.

India ranks second with a total of 29,358,033 cases, including 367,097 deaths, after adding 84,695 new cases and 4,000 deaths. Next is Brazil with a total of 17,301,220 cases, including 484,350 deaths.

In Asia, China's National Health Commission said on June 12 that mainland China recorded 35 new cases on June 11, up from 22 a day earlier. Of the new cases, eight were locally transmitted, all in southern China's Guangdong province.

The total number of cases in mainland China has now increased to 91,394, including 4,636 deaths.

South Korea also recorded 565 new cases on June 12, bringing the total number of cases nationwide to 147,422. In the past 24 hours, the country also had 1 more death, bringing the total number of deaths from Covid-19 to 1,982. The mortality rate is 1.34%.

In the Americas, Argentina's death toll has surpassed 84,000 after 689 more deaths from Covid-19 were recorded on June 11. The total number of deaths from the disease has now risen to 84,628.

In the past 24 hours, the country also had 26,934 new infections, bringing the total number of cases nationwide to 4,093,090. In the context of the complicated developments of the epidemic, Argentine Health Minister Carla Vizzotti said on the same day that the country will extend mandatory social distancing and disease prevention measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic until June 25.

The US pharmaceutical company Moderna said on June 11 that it had not found any link between its Covid-19 vaccine and cases of a rare inflammatory heart syndrome reported in young adults after receiving its vaccine. Moderna stressed that this conclusion was made after "a thorough review of the available safety data for its Covid-19 vaccine on cases of myocarditis and/or pericarditis".
