Robot initiative to be a conversational companion for autistic children
On the morning of July 24, FPT Corporation - the organizer of the robot application writing contest (SMAC Challenge) announced the list of 16 teams that made it to round 2.
In the top 16, there are 10 applications with high social value, helping Smartoshin robot (developed by FPT) become a powerful assistant for humans. For example, the robot becomes a friend to talk to autistic children, the robot helps the disabled, supports users to watch TV...
Among the teams participating in the competition, Hanoi University of Science and Technology dominated with 6 teams in the top 16. The Academy of Posts and Telecommunications ranked 2nd with 3 teams. The remaining 7 teams came from 7 schools, including: FPT University, University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, University of Electricity, University of Transport, University of Science and Technology, and Thanh Do University.
The 16 teams above have successfully completed the competition "Writing a smart Q&A application on the Android platform". The scoring criteria in this competition are based on 5 factors, including: database, application interface, user-friendliness, feature diversity, and practical performance. Of which, database is the most important criterion, accounting for nearly 50% of the total score.
Many teams are also focusing on researching applications with high social value, such as: robots that act as friends to autistic children, robots that assist the disabled, and robots that act as doctors and nurses in the family (in line with the development trend of wearable medical devices - Healthcare wearable)....
In addition, some teams also develop applications for business, such as SmartBank robots - supporting banking services, mobile phone sales robots...
