Having gone through life and death on fierce battlefields and lost an arm after a fierce battle with the enemy in the Tay Nguyen battlefield, returning home, he always maintained his will, always tried his best in all tasks, promoting the good qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers.

After returning from the army, disabled soldier Bui Van Trung was elected by the villagers as the village chief and party cell secretary of Phuong Dong village, Giang Son Dong commune, Do Luong district. For over 20 years, he has always been dedicated and responsible for the work of the village and commune.
One of the key tasks of Phuong Dong hamlet at the present stage is to mobilize the whole population to join hands in building new rural areas.

To encourage the people in the hamlet to respond to the movement and mobilize resources from the people, he and the party members in the party cell and hamlet cadres actively encouraged the people to contribute money and working days, mobilized people to donate land, labor, fences, and expand the village road with a 5m road surface, two 2m ditches on both sides, with a total length of 400m. During the hamlet's road opening campaign, the people donated thousands of square meters of land, hundreds of timber trees and fruit trees, but were still very excited and did not file lawsuits to cause difficulties.

Faced with the situation that some roads in the hamlet were seriously damaged and degraded, making it difficult for people to travel, if he encouraged people to continue to contribute, the people would not agree. He analyzed for the people to understand, so they agreed. The hamlet executive committee borrowed money, the hamlet was responsible for paying the interest to mobilize gravel to fill the damaged roads in a timely manner, and then collect money from the people. Thanks to that, the hamlet was able to fill 4,000m of gravel, the roads were dry and clean, and the people were very excited. Along with the road clearance work, he encouraged people to support and contribute money to build the village's welcome gate with a total value of over 40 million VND.

Provincial leaders presented flowers and a certificate of merit to Mr. Bui Van Trung at the ceremony to honor typical examples of studying and following Uncle Ho.

In addition to the above-mentioned tasks, he is also trusted by policy beneficiaries, retirees, the People's Committee of the commune and the Social Insurance of Do Luong district to work as a pension payment officer. Over the past 20 years, he has always paid each policy in a timely and accurate manner to all beneficiaries, without any violations, and has been highly appreciated by the Social Insurance of Do Luong district and retirees in the commune. Along with the tasks assigned by the Party and the people, he is also the economic pillar of his family. He boldly borrowed capital to invest in poultry farming on a farm scale with an area of ​​5,000m2 of garden and hills, and a barn area of ​​10,000m2 for diverse farming. On average, 5,000 chickens are raised in the garden and hills each year. In the past 2 years alone, his family has raised 10,000 free-range chickens, 1,000 mother hens for egg laying and selling for breeding, and 500 Egyptian super egg chickens for selling commercial eggs. The total cost in the past 2 years, minus expenses, net profit is 300 million VND.

From the economic efficiency of his family, he has guided and helped many farming households in and outside the village and other localities with livestock raising techniques, providing breeds, and disease prevention for poultry. Thanks to that, many households have raised livestock effectively, some of which have developed into farms. With the spirit of helping each other, in the past 2 years, he has donated over 3 million VND to the village's fund for the poor. At the same time, he also lends 3-5 million VND to disadvantaged households every month, interest-free, to help them improve their lives.

This year, nearly 30 years in the Party, old age, poor health, but war invalid Bui Van Trung still diligently participates in social activities, he is a typical example for Giang Son Dong people to learn, he was honored as a typical advanced model "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's moral example" of the province in 2013.
