There will be a seaplane tour route from Saigon to Can Tho soon.

After launching the seaplane tourist route Hanoi - Ha Long (Quang Ninh) on September 10, 2014, private airline Hai Au is planning to operate many new routes, including the Saigon - Can Tho route.

Mr. Do Quang Hai, Commercial Director of Hai Au Private Airline, said that if preparations go smoothly, the Saigon - Can Tho seaplane tourism route will be launched by Hai Au on December 1, 2014. “In addition, during this period (December 2014), we will open many other routes such as: Saigon - Mui Ne (Phan Thiet); Saigon - Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa); Saigon - Phu Quoc (Kien Giang); Saigon - Con Dao (Ba Ria - Vung Tau) and Saigon - Chau Doc (An Giang)”, Mr. Hai said.

Explaining the reason why Hai Au chose seaplane tourism to develop, according to Mr. Hai, firstly, it comes from the actual needs of tourists; secondly, because Vietnam is a country with advantages in sea and island tourism, so seaplanes have many advantages.

“Not only that, seaplanes also significantly shorten the travel time of tourists. For example, it normally takes more than 2 days to go to Truong Sa, while going by seaplane only takes 1 hour and 15 minutes, which is very convenient,” said Mr. Hai.

At the meeting, most departments and agencies of Can Tho City agreed with the private airline Hai Au to invest and operate the Can Tho route (Saigon - Can Tho). "From the perspective of local tourism development, I strongly support this policy. This will be a very unique and new service and will certainly attract many visitors to Can Tho," said Mr. Tran Phuoc Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho.

Meanwhile, Mr. Dao Anh Dung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City affirmed: "We will create all favorable conditions for Hai Au to soon put into operation this seaplane tourism route."

However, according to Mr. Dung, in the immediate future, Hai Au needs to have an official document and an exploitation plan sent to the People's Committee of Can Tho City so that this unit can work with relevant departments and agencies to issue a business license; apply for a license to open a flight route; apply for a parking location...

It is known that the People's Committee of Can Tho City and the private airline Hai Au have agreed to choose Hau River, the section opposite Victoria Can Tho Hotel (Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District) as the landing and take-off point for seaplanes when the Saigon - Can Tho route is put into operation.

According to information from the private airline Hai Au, after nearly half a month of operation (from September 10, 2014), the airline's first seaplane tourist route, Hanoi - Ha Long, has conducted nearly 35 flights, including some flights to film and promote the brand.

Regarding the ticket price of the Saigon - Can Tho route, although not specifically disclosed, Mr. Hai said it was about equivalent to over 5.9 million VND/trip of the Hanoi - Ha Long route.
