After Tet, Nghe An teachers go to the village to 'call' students to school
Students staying home after Tet seems to have become a “normal” thing in many schools in the mountainous districts of Nghe An. To overcome this situation, many teachers have crossed hills and mountains to the villages to encourage students to go to school.
Don't let students drop out of school after Tet
Minutes of student mobilization to return to school after the semesterTet holidayThe Lunar New Year of At Ty 2025 was signed by teacher Pham Thi Thu Huong (teacher of Nhon Mai Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities - Tuong Duong) and a representative of Xa Mat village, Nhon Mai commune at 4:15 p.m. on the afternoon of February 3 (the 6th day of Tet) - the first day students returned to school.
In this record, there is a clear list of 6 students from class 8B and 9B, all of whom are Khmu students and were not present at school on the first day after Tet. Before the record was signed, the mobilization team went directly to each house, met with each parent and student to grasp the situation, the reasons for not going to school, the difficulties and obstacles. After more than 2 hours of propaganda and mobilization, all families signed a commitment to encourage their children to go to school according to regulations.

In addition to Xa Mat, at the same time, the board of directors and teachers of Nhon Mai Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities, together with local authorities, went to Huoi Co, Pha Mut, and Tham Tham villages - where many Mong students had not yet gone to school - to encourage them to go to school. After a short time, the parents all agreed with the school and pledged to send their children back to school soon so as not to interrupt their studies.
Teacher Nguyen Ngoc Tan - Principal said: Our school has 268 students and 197 of them are boarding students. On the first day of school, we counted nearly 20 students absent, mainly Mong and Kho Mu students. Therefore, in the morning, the school assigned teachers to each village to find out information and encourage students to return to school. Fortunately, none of the absent students were working far away or getting married. The main reason was that there was a wedding in the village so they stayed an extra day. By the morning of February 4, most of the students had returned to school. The remaining 2-3 students did not go to school because they had the flu.

Huu Kiem Ethnic Boarding Secondary School (Ky Son District) has more than 450 students this school year, including 264 boarding students. Most of the students at the school are children of the Thai and Kho Mu ethnic groups from Huu Kiem and Huu Lap communes.
Mr. Nguyen Van Dang - Principal of Huu Kiem Ethnic Minority High School said that according to the plan, schools will resume teaching from the 6th day of Tet. However, from the 4th day of Tet, the principal and teachers were present at the school to return the leave and prepare conditions to welcome students.
After 2 days of returning to the teaching schedule, the number of students has basically stabilized. As soon as students arrived at school, they were organized to eat, stay, and live in boarding school as usual.
Currently, there are only about 15 students who are absent with permission. The school assigned the homeroom teacher to contact these students, find out the reason and remind them to return to school soon.

Early stabilization of teaching and learning
Mr. Nguyen Van Dang - Principal of Huu Kiem Ethnic Minority High School also said that, along with the early stabilization of teaching for all grades after Tet, the review work for grade 9 students was also quickly implemented: Huu Kiem Ethnic Minority High School is one of the schools with a high rate of grade 9 students taking the 10th grade entrance exam in Ky Son district, with about 70-78%. Determining that this is the first year that the entrance exam for grade 10 is implemented according to the 2018 General Education Program, right after Tet, teaching and review work was seriously implemented, on the one hand to meet the needs of students, on the other hand to ensure the quality of education according to the direction of the Department of Education and Training - Mr. Dang added.

At Thong Thu Ethnic Boarding Secondary School (Que Phong), on the afternoon of the 5th day of Tet, one day before the official working day began, teachers from families in the lowlands were also present at the school early to clean the classrooms, ready to welcome students back to school.
Immediately after the students arrived at school, the school held a flag-raising ceremony and a meeting with students at the beginning of the new year. After the first period, the organization of teaching and learning and the implementation of boarding for students returned to normal. Mr. Hoang Ngoc Thanh - Principal said: Because the school follows the boarding model, the school's preparations were carried out 1 day earlier, ensuring that activities are not interrupted. Entering the second semester, although the school year's tasks are very heavy, the school is determined to complete the set plan.

Previously, according to the plan from February 14, extra teaching and learning at schools will have many changes. However, at Thong Thu Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities and many other boarding and semi-boarding schools in the province, the organization of teaching and learning has not changed much.
Sharing more about this, teacher Hoang Ngoc Thanh added: We still maintain teaching 2 sessions/day to supplement and tutor the students. In addition, before Tet, the school also started teaching additional subjects for students such as IT, English, and life skills. For many years, the school has not collected extra tuition fees from students. Instead, the school will arrange for teachers who are short of extra classes to teach in the afternoons.

In order to stabilize teaching and learning after Tet and limit the number of students dropping out of school, during Tet, the Department of Education and Training and local education and training departments have also issued documents requesting schools to strengthen solutions to mobilize students to go to school and maintain the attendance rate of students. In addition, it is necessary to review students at risk of dropping out and classify them to have appropriate measures for each student. Particularly for poor and disadvantaged students, it is necessary to mobilize resources to help and support them in a timely manner during Tet, and not let students drop out of school due to difficult circumstances.
After the Tet holiday, the education sector requires units to urgently stabilize teaching, learning and working order. At the same time, prepare plans and other conditions for exams in 2025, the first exam to be implemented according to the 2018 General Education Program.
