Through discussion, Mr. Tang Van An - Head of Forecasting Department, North Central Hydrometeorological Station said: The air mass that has strengthened in the past few days (from February 9 to 12) has caused the lowest air temperature since the beginning of the year. The minimum temperature on February 13 in mountainous areas is commonly: 10.5 - 11.5 degrees Celsius and in coastal plains is commonly: 13.5 - 14.5 degrees Celsius.

Currently, the cold air is at a stable intensity, then weakens and moves to the East, so on February 14, the weather in Nghe An province is not rainy and sunny. However, at night and early morning, there will be fog and the weather will be very cold. In the highlands, the weather will be very cold, with temperatures in the coastal plains generally: 13 - 15 degrees Celsius; in the mountains and midlands, it is common: 11 - 13 degrees Celsius.
On February 15-16, a cold air mass from the North will strengthen and move southward, however, the intensity is not strong and tends to shift to the East. Due to the strengthening air mass, the weather in Nghe An province will be cloudy, with scattered rain and showers. The weather will continue to be cold. After that, the weather will be fine and gradually warm up.

Nghia Dan district currently has a herd of nearly 83,000 buffaloes and cows, and 945,000 poultry. Mr. Cao Minh Duc - Head of the Nghia Dan district veterinary station said: During the cold days, the station has directed communes and towns to propagate through loudspeakers to villages and hamlets and also advised livestock farmers to proactively prevent epidemics; not to let buffaloes and cows out; to stock up on food and protect livestock and poultry from the cold.

Nghi Loc district is also a locality with a relatively large herd of cattle and poultry, with more than 24,000 buffaloes and cows, 17,000 pigs and over 700,000 poultry. Of which, Nghi Kieu commune has the largest scale with 2,500 cattle. Faced with unusual weather developments, farmers have deployed cold protection for their livestock.
In Anh Son district, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dang - Head of the Department of Agriculture of Anh Son district said: "The district has deployed the work of preventing hunger, cold and epidemics for livestock to each household in 252 villages and hamlets of 21 communes and towns. On days of severe cold, 100% of livestock households use tarpaulins or other locally available materials to cover barns and keep livestock warm; 100% of livestock households have food reserves such as: hay, dry straw, corn stalks and leaves, fresh grass, salt, starchy food...
