Surveillance cameras and speedometers will be installed at 78 locations on National Highway 1.
The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam has just issued a document agreeing to grant a construction license for the procurement and installation of a camera surveillance system on two pilot routes Hanoi - Vinh and Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho to the Traffic Safety Project Management Board; Road Management Areas II, IV and VII.
Accordingly, surveillance cameras and speedometers will be installed on the median strip or roadside on National Highway 1, Hanoi - Vinh section and Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho section, at 78 locations. Specifically: The section belonging to Highway QLDB II (Km182+250-Km281+750) has 21 locations; the section belonging to Highway QLDB IV (Km289+050-Km462+050) has 23 locations; the section belonging to Highway QLDB VII (Km1906-Km2078+950) has 34 locations.
Previously, in order to effectively exploit Vietnam's expressway system in the future, the Ministry of Transport, together with representatives of the Japanese Embassy and the Japan International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam (JICA), signed an Exchange of Notes and a Non-refundable Aid Agreement from the Japanese Government for the Project to develop a traffic control system for expressways in Hanoi. The total aid package is worth about VND137 billion (527 million Japanese Yen), with an implementation period of 19 months (from the second quarter of 2012 to the fourth quarter of 2013).
