(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 25, Quynh Luu District General Hospital held a meeting of the professional team to analyze and re-evaluate the cause of death of patient Ly Thi Thu.

After the incident where more than 100 people brought the body of Ly Thi Thu (14 years old, from Quynh Luong commune, Quynh Luu district) to surround the hospital to ask doctors and nurses to clarify the cause of the victim's death, Nghe An Department of Health sent a document requesting Quynh Luu District General Hospital to report the incident.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam - Director of the Hospital said: Thu's death was partly due to the lack of responsibility of the doctors and nurses because they did not monitor and anticipate the progression of the disease, leading to unfortunate consequences. After this meeting, the Hospital will send a professional report to the Department of Health so that the authorities can inspect, clarify the violations and give instructions for handling. After that, the Disciplinary Council will proceed to clarify the responsibilities and violations of each individual. The leadership of Quynh Luu District General Hospital has also admitted its mistake and compensated the victim's family 70 million VND.

Regarding the victim's family, Mr. Ly Xuan Hoa (Thu's father) said: The incident happened so suddenly. When we discovered that the child had chickenpox and a stomachache, we immediately took her to the hospital for treatment, but we did not expect the incident to turn out like this. We did not request an autopsy, but only asked the hospital to clarify the negligence and lack of concern of the doctors and nurses in the hospital.

It is known that Ly Thi Thu is currently an 8th grade student at Minh Luong Secondary School. Before she was hospitalized, on the afternoon of March 20, Thu was still studying at school to prepare for the upcoming district excellent student competition. On March 21, she had chickenpox all over her body, her health was weak and her family took her to the district general hospital for treatment. At about 1:30 a.m. on March 23, when Thu was still complaining of pain, the doctor came to examine her and informed her family that she had bloating and flatulence. Thu's family asked the hospital to transfer her to another hospital but was not approved. Only when her condition became serious did the hospital allow her to be transferred.

At around 10am on March 23, Thu's family took her to Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital for emergency treatment. However, Thu died at 2pm that same day.
