On December 8, Vietnamese wushu received good news when athlete Phuong Giang shone on the women's boxing mat, bringing home the second gold medal for Vietnamese wushu at the 2013 SEA Games. |
At this SEA Games, with the slogan “Green, Clean and Friendship”, Myanmar is determined to organize a resounding event to impress neighboring countries and the international community with the 11-day Southeast Asian regional sporting event (December 11 to December 22).
The 27th SEA Games will feature 33 sports, with 1,557 medals of all kinds awarded, including 460 gold, 460 silver and 637 bronze medals. The mascots of the 27th SEA Games are a pair of owls, considered a traditional charm of Myanmar. The male owl is named Shwe Yoe and the female is named Ma Moe. The flag-raising ceremony of the participating countries of the 27th SEA Games will take place at 3:00 p.m. on December 10.
According to the registration list, the Vietnamese sports delegation attending the 2013 SEA Games has 511 athletes (286 men and 225 women) in 29 sports. Wushu is the first Vietnamese team to compete at the 27th SEA Games (competing on December 7) and is also the earliest sports delegation to return (one day before the mai mat ceremony on the night of December 11 begins).
