Sepp Blatter suddenly abandons intention to resign as FIFA president

Despite announcing his resignation earlier this month, FIFA president Sepp Blatter has recently hinted that he may consider changing his decision.

Blatter changed his mind in a flash.

According to the latest information, the Swiss official confirmed to a newspaper in his home country that he had not actually resigned: "I did not say that. In fact, I only handed over the decision of my future to an extraordinary congress."

With this move, Blatter can absolutely continue to be FIFA president, despite the organization quoting his own resignation statement earlier this month: "I received consensus from FIFA members, but I feel that I am not supported by the whole football world - the fans, the players, the clubs, the people who live, breathe and love football and FIFA."

It seems Blatter has reconsidered.

"I have therefore decided to entrust my duties to an extraordinary general election. I will continue to carry out my duties as president until then." In the same speech, Blatter affirmed that he would "not be a candidate" in the upcoming election.
