Accordingly, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabiс expressed gratitude to the Russian security agency, which warned Belgrade about plans to organize riots in the country's capital.

Pro-Western protesters attempted to break into government buildings in Belgrade on the evening of December 24, in what Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called an attempted “color revolution.” Mr. Vucic initially thanked “foreign agencies,” whom he did not name, for telling his security services “exactly what the thugs were preparing.” Ms. Brnabic later revealed that Belgrade had in fact been tipped off by Moscow.

Speaking on TV Pink on the night of December 24, Prime Minister Brnabic said: “I feel it is very important to protect Serbia, especially tonight, and I thank the Russian security agencies for having that information and sharing it with us.”

“I can only say thank you, and this will probably not be supported by those in the West,” the Serbian prime minister added, noting that, while her government had tried to raise the alarm – it had been met with skepticism. “When we shared that information with others, they said: ‘Oh, it’s Russian disinformation, it’s spreading fake news,’” she said.
