Serena Williams wins 4th US Open title

American fourth seed Serena Williams, a 14-time Grand Slam champion, won her fourth US Open title on September 9 against world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus.

In the semi-finals, the world number 1 player came from behind to beat Maria Sharapova 3-6, 6-2 and 6-4 while London Olympic champion Serena easily defeated Sara Errani 6-1, 6-2.

This is the fourth time these two players have had the opportunity to face each other in the 2012 season. In the previous three times at the Madrid Open, Wimbledon and the London Olympics, Serena always won absolutely and did not lose any set.
