Sergei Lavrov names the cause of tension in relations between the West and Russia
The West's desire to maintain its own global leadership at all costs is the reason for tensions in relations between Western countries and Russia, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.

“The main reason is the desire of some Western countries to maintain a leading position in the international arena, to continue imposing their will and values on everyone and everywhere, solving their narrow selfish problems at the expense of other members,” Lavrov told the Spanish newspaper El Pajs.
According to the Russian foreign minister, the West sees a threat to its global dominance in Russia's independent foreign policy. Therefore, unilateral economic sanctions and other deterrent tools such as increased military activity near the borders or an unprecedented anti-Russian information campaign are being used.
