Tighten management of private medical facilities

The Inspectorate of the Ministry of Health has just issued Official Dispatch No. 679/TTrB-P2 to the Department of Health of provinces and centrally-run cities on strengthening state management of non-public medical examination and treatment facilities, especially medical examination and treatment facilities with foreign elements.


Accordingly, the Ministry Inspectorate recommends that the Departments of Health pay special attention to medical facilities with foreign elements, focusing on the following contents: Legal documents of the facility's operations, scope of practice, facilities, medical equipment, personnel situation, professional qualifications of doctors, public service prices and not charging higher than the publicly listed prices, drug storage and use, drug prices, advertising licenses, advertising content and other professional regulations.

Violations will be handled according to current regulations.

The Ministry of Health Inspectorate also requested that the Health Departments of central provinces and cities urgently implement and report the results before October 30.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, there are currently more than 65,000 private medical facilities nationwide, most of which are concentrated in big cities, especially Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

In Hanoi, as of the end of July 2013, there were more than 2,500 non-public health care facilities, including 28 hospitals, 185 general clinics, 1,352 specialized clinics, and 706 traditional medicine facilities.
