Quynh Luu Ornamental Plants 16 years of development

(Baonghean) -Quynh Luu Ornamental Plants Association was launched and started operating on March 21, 1997. Starting with 30 members, it has now grown to 680 members with the core mission of developing culture, environment, economy and society through ornamental plant activities.

Quynh Luu is a district with abundant potential for ornamental plants from forests, semi-mountainous hills, flats, coastal areas with many kinds of fish, shrimp, mussel shells, seashells, snail shells; migratory birds, strange-shaped rocks, many exotic plants... If we know how to preserve, exploit, and beautify, this is a gift from nature to grow, survive, and develop, helping the living environment become greener - cleaner - more beautiful. Therefore, the Association sent 6 members (the first from Nghe An) to study ornamental plants at Xuan Mai Vocational Management High School (now the Northern Vocational College of Agriculture and Rural Development); sent 3 out of 22 national delegates to attend the Expo 99' Fair in Kunming (China), the world's largest flower and ornamental plant fair; 4 members to attend the Da Lat Ornamental Plant Festival 2005; 2 members participated in the 2006 Ho Chi Minh City Ornamental Plant Festival. Many members attended ornamental plant exhibitions in Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Duong, Binh Dinh, Nam Dinh, Hanoi... to exchange and learn about making ornamental plants.

Based on such activities, awareness of the socialization of ornamental plants has been enhanced. The majority of people agree to support the movement: Every household has ornamental plants, considering ornamental plants as culture, as environment, contributing to economic development, both nurturing the mind, nurturing the spirit, and nurturing the human being. Ornamental plants have attracted the sectors of Education, Health, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, agencies, departments and branches to enthusiastically participate.

By 2007, 100% of schools in Quynh Luu had ornamental plants, creating a pedagogical environment for teachers and students to teach better, learn better; truly a friendly school, active students. The Quynh Luu Education Sector was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Central Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association for its achievements in making ornamental plants. The Health Sector has just participated in making "Ornamental and medicinal gardens", from the Central Hospital located in Quynh Lap to the district hospitals and clinics, there is a movement to make ornamental plants, typically Quynh Lien, Quynh Lam, Quynh Giang... More than anyone, the patients coming to the hospital and clinic all confirm: Ornamental landscapes are a tonic that cannot be bought at a pharmacy.

100% of martyrs' memorials from district to commune have trees and ornamental plants. In many communes such as Quynh Hong, Hoang Mai Town, Cau Giat and especially Quynh Doi, nearly 100% of families have ornamental plants. Hundreds of member families have escaped poverty thanks to ornamental plants.

16 years, not a long period of time, but with its worthy contributions, the Association was awarded 17 certificates of merit by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quynh Luu district; 64 certificates of merit by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district to 16 groups and 48 individuals; 4 certificates of merit by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province to 2 groups and 2 individuals; 25 certificates of merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association to 3 groups and 22 individuals. The head of the member organization was awarded the "For the cause of great national unity" Medal by the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee for his outstanding contributions to the movement.

From 2007 to now, when Nghe An Provincial Ornamental Plants Association came into operation, Quynh Luu Ornamental Plants Association is the highlight of Nghe An Ornamental Plants. From the national conference topics "Uncle Ho with nature and ornamental plants" held in Nghe An, on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of his birth, to 2 congresses of the Provincial Association, or participating in the 1000-year Thang Long - Hanoi Exhibition of Nghe An, Quynh Luu Ornamental Plants plays a leading role. Summarizing the development of 2 years 2010 - 2011, the revenue from Quynh Luu Ornamental Plants reached nearly 27 billion VND.

In the district, a flower and ornamental plant craft village, Hong Phu (Quynh Hong commune), was established according to the decision of the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee in 2011. Hundreds of members have the skills to make ornamental plants for high income. Particularly, Quynh Thanh Catholic commune is the commune with the most members of the ornamental plant association. From a poor commune, it has now become a fairly prosperous, spacious, green - clean - beautiful commune, a significant part thanks to ornamental plants.

As a social-professional association, after more than 16 years of operation, with the consensus and support of the Party, government, Fatherland Front and people, Quynh Luu Ornamental Plants Association has contributed to creating a fresh and fragrant appearance for the district at the head of Nghe An.
