Student Scientific Research - Euréka: 74 topics awarded
In celebration of the 64th anniversary of Vietnamese Students' Day (January 9, 1950 - January 9, 2014), on December 14 and 15, at the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Cultural House, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union organized the 4th Ho Chi Minh City Creative Youth Festival - 2013. This festival had the participation of 34 booths and creative products from departments, institutes, centers, schools, districts, businesses, social organizations, etc.
From early morning on December 14, the festival welcomed 15,000 students and young people to attend the opening ceremony, participate in the "product design, manufacturing and application" contest; visit and watch the demonstration of models and creative products.
Throughout the 2 days of the festival, there are also other programs such as: Donating textbooks and science books from visitors, then transferring them to schools to sell to students at the same price of 5,000 VND/book, the proceeds will be used to build bookcases for children in suburban districts. Organizing seminars on "Aspiration for knowledge", "Renovating and developing the landscape of Saigon River"; organizing talk shows on "Discovering new technology"...
Within the framework of the festival, on the evening of December 14, at the hall of the City Youth Cultural House, the ceremony of awarding the Third Class Labor Medal to the Center for Young Science Development took place; the Central Youth Union Certificate of Merit, commemorative medals, Ho Chi Minh City badges, certificates of merit from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee were awarded to individuals with many achievements contributing to 74 topics winning the Euréka Student Scientific Research Award. Following that, the ceremony of honoring and sponsoring young talents will take place on the evening of December 15.
On the afternoon of December 14, Ho Chi Minh City National University held a ceremony to honor 200 5-good students and 11 students who won the title of Outstanding Students of 2013. These are students from schools in the national university block such as University of Technology, University of Natural Sciences, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, International University... One of the typical students is Le Yen Thanh (2nd year student of Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Natural Sciences), who just received the Golden Globe Award in 2013 organized by the Central Youth Union and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
To receive this title, students must meet the standards of 5 criteria including: ethics (training score of 80 or higher); study (average score of 8.0/10 or higher or equivalent, no failed exams or missed credits in the 2012-2013 school year); physical strength; skills and integration (foreign language and computer skills). In addition, these faces also actively participate in activities such as voluntary blood donation or receive awards locally.
On the morning of December 14, more than 3,000 students from 19 primary schools in Binh Tan district participated in the "Children love helmets" festival organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training in collaboration with the City Traffic Safety Committee and the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation (AIP).
Through physical activities such as slow bike racing, puzzles, finding traffic signs, and decorating helmets, students are educated about traffic safety. In addition, the festival also includes a performance competition with skits, dramas, and folk dances to promote helmet wearing awareness among children.
