This is a prestigious international competition sponsored by the British Council, aiming to help people cope with and minimize damage from earthquakes. This competition had 99 teams from many different countries participating.
In 6 hours, with only wood, glue, and elastic bands, a group of students from the Faculty of Construction (Duy Tan University) designed a 7-story earthquake-resistant house model, which can withstand earthquake aftershocks as specified by the organizers and is capable of withstanding earthquakes of about 8 on the Richter scale.
Last year, Duy Tan University won a consolation prize from this competition with a model that has a flexible structure that follows the direction of vibration, is resilient, and has good load-bearing capacity, with the characteristics of Vietnamese bamboo but can only withstand earthquakes of about 6 on the Richter scale./.
