Slovenia ready to accept 2,000 immigrants under quota
ANSA news agency reported on September 5 that Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec announced that Slovenia will not object to quotas for distributing immigrants into the country as requested by the European Union (EU).

Accordingly, Ljubljana is ready to receive up to 2,000 immigrants.
Previously, the European Commission (EC) asked Slovenia to accept a total of 2,128 immigrants from Italy and Greece to help these countries reduce the number of people coming here to seek asylum.
Ljubljana initially rejected the proposal, saying it did not have the infrastructure to accommodate the number of migrants and offered to accept only a small fraction of them.
However, developments in the migrant crisis over the past few days have changed Slovenia's stance.
So far, Slovenia has not been much affected by the recent surge in refugees entering Europe.
Even when Hungary closed its borders and Macedonia declared a state of emergency on its border with Greece, the flow of migrants did not overflow into Slovenia./.
