At about 9:47 p.m. on December 30, the patrol team of the Traffic Police and Public Order Team of Than Uyen District Police coordinated with Traffic Police Team No. 2, Traffic Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police to carry out a task at Km343+500, National Highway 32, Zone 5, Than Uyen Town. The working group signaled to stop a motorbike, with 2 people on board, driven by a young man.

When the task force signaled the vehicle to stop, the driver did not comply but increased the speed and crashed straight into the task force on duty.

As a result, Captain Nguyen Ngoc Kenh, an officer of the Traffic Police and Public Order Team of Than Uyen District Police, was injured.

The working group and local people controlled the two subjects and promptly took comrade Nguyen Ngoc Kenh to the Than Uyen District Medical Center for emergency treatment.

Working with the police, the subjects confessed that Quan did not have a driver’s license and had consumed alcohol. Fearing a heavy fine, Quan accelerated to escape and injured the traffic police officer.
