Summary of 5 years of implementing the project on vocational training for rural workers

(Baonghean.vn) - On April 15, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a conference to review 5 years of implementing the vocational training project for rural workers according to Decision 1956/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, and deploy vocational training tasks in 2015.

Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Comrade Dang Cao Thang - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Nghe An chaired the conference.

Overview of the conference.

After 5 years of implementation, vocational training for rural workers in the province has achieved many positive results, with 268,213 rural workers participating in vocational training, reaching 84.13% of the target. Of which, the number of rural workers supported to learn vocational training under the Project policy is 40,493 people. The results of vocational training for rural workers in the province have contributed to increasing the rate of trained workers in the province from 30% in 2009 to 46% in 2014, initially promoting the shift of economic structure and labor structure in rural areas, contributing to the implementation of new rural construction.

Up to now, the whole province has organized 140 model vocational training classes for 4,544 people with the employment rate and stable income reaching over 80%. Many localities have piloted effective vocational training models such as: Yen Thanh with mushroom growing, industrial sewing; Dien Chau, Quynh Luu with rattan and bamboo weaving; Thanh Chuong with pig raising, flower growing, civil carpentry, etc.

The conference also pointed out the shortcomings and limitations in vocational training for rural workers and set out targets and tasks for 2015. Striving to provide vocational training for 79,000 people, increasing the rate of trained workers to 48%, of which 8,500 rural workers are supported to learn vocational skills according to Decision 1956/QD-TTg, increasing the rate of qualified teachers to 80%....

At the conference, representatives of Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Yen Thanh Industrial and Agricultural Technical Vocational College, Que Phong District People's Committee, Dien Chau Vocational Training Center, etc. also discussed solutions to promote more effective vocational training for rural workers.

Concluding the conference, comrade Le Xuan Dai emphasized the achievements of the province's vocational training over the past time, but the quality of training, training curriculum, etc. still do not meet the requirements. He also requested localities to strengthen propaganda and training to raise awareness of vocational training for all levels, sectors and farmers, survey and check the vocational training needs of workers in conjunction with the socio-economic development needs of the locality, improve the quality of vocational training, and meet the demanding requirements of the labor market.
