Summary of 5 years of implementing "National Border Defense Day"

(Baonghean) - On December 14, in Cua Lo town, the People's Committee of Cua Lo town and the People's Committee of Nghi Loc district coordinated with the Border Guard Station of Cua Lo - Ben Thuy port to organize a conference to review 5 years (2009 - 2013) of implementing "People's Border Guard Day".

Attending the conference were leaders of the Border Guard Command and related provincial-level sectors, leaders of Cua Lo Town, Nghi Loc District and 11 coastal wards and communes of the two localities, along with officers and soldiers of Cua Lo-Ben Thuy Border Guard Station.

Leaders of the Provincial Border Guard Command awarded outstanding units and individuals.

Nghi Loc - Cua Lo sea area has an important strategic position in terms of national defense, security, economy, culture and society of Nghe An province. In the past 5 years, implementing Decree 161/ND-CP of the Government on the Regulations on maritime border areas, the Party committees and authorities at all levels of the two localities have coordinated with the Border Guard Station to do a good job of propagating the Party's guidelines and policies and the laws of the State and localities in the area. Doing a good job of patrolling and grasping the situation at sea, detecting and handling 296 cases/320 subjects, paying the State Treasury over 326 million VND. Confiscating 71.51g of heroin, 88.85 kg of explosives, 75 electric shockers...

However, up to now, the awareness of a number of cadres and people has not been on par with the requirements of the task of protecting the fatherland in the period of renovation, and propaganda and mobilization work to prevent crimes of using explosives to destroy the environment at sea has not been regular.

In the coming time, localities in Nghi Loc - Cua Lo area will closely coordinate with the Border Guard to do a good job of protecting border security and sovereignty, and well implement the 5 contents of "People's Border Guard Day".

At the conference, the Provincial Border Guard Command awarded certificates of merit to 2 groups and 2 individuals, the People's Committee of Cua Lo Town - Nghi Loc District People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 5 groups and 5 individuals with outstanding achievements in the past 5 years.
