(Baonghean) - On November 27, 2014, Nghe An newspaper published an article: "Preventing tax loss, need to get involved soon" reflecting the situation of the State losing tax revenue in petroleum business activities in Nghe An province, with the main reason being that the total meter on petroleum measuring devices has not been inspected and controlled. On December 3, 2014, the Department of Science and Technology issued Official Dispatch No. 1464/CV-KHCN-TTra in response with the following content:

The Department of Science and Technology found that the article correctly reflected the nature: petroleum trading is a conditional business. However, currently, the issue of controlling the accuracy of the meter (meter) of the total amount of goods sold on each petroleum measuring device is not specifically regulated by which sector. This loophole has, is and will create favorable conditions for a number of petroleum trading establishments to make false declarations to evade taxes.

To avoid tax losses and create fairness among petroleum business entities in fulfilling their obligations to the State, the Department of Science and Technology respectfully requests the Provincial People's Committee to consider and direct the Tax Department to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Standards - Metrology - Quality and relevant sectors to research, propose and implement feasible measures to manage the accuracy of total meters mounted on petroleum measuring devices.
