Department of Natural Resources and Environment responds to environmental pollution issues in Dien Chau
(Baonghean) -On July 12, 2013, Nghe An Newspaper received Official Dispatch No. 1928/STNMT-BVMT from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in response to the complete handling of environmental pollution caused by waste in Dien Chau district as follows:
According to the updated information from the press of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment from the beginning of 2013 until now, in Dien Chau district, there have been many articles reflecting the environmental pollution caused by common solid waste in the communes of Dien Thanh, Dien Lam, Dien Doai, Dien Hung, Dien Truong, Lach Van... especially in coastal areas and dike lines. Based on the content of the newspaper, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment has sent official dispatches to the People's Committee of Dien Chau district to direct relevant departments and offices to inspect, verify the reflections and take timely remedial measures.
Implementing the dispatch of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the People's Committee of Dien Chau district has inspected and handled the content of the newspaper and has sent a report to the competent authorities and responded to the newspaper. However, on July 4, 2013, Nghe An newspaper No. 9478, Hotline Information section continued to publish: "At the sea dike road bordering the communes of Dien Kim, Dien Hai, Dien Hung (Dien Chau), people throw garbage right on the dike, very dirty. This dike line was once considered a very beautiful coastal tourist road, now it has become a place for dumping garbage, it is in great need of attention from local authorities to take measures to handle it".
Pursuant to Article 16, Decision No. 24/2012/QD-UBND dated March 29, 2012 of the People's Committee of Nghe An province stipulating the responsibilities of the People's Committees of districts, cities and towns in the management of ordinary solid waste, according to the decentralization of state management on environmental protection in the province, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment requests the People's Committee of Dien Chau district to continue: Inspect and clarify the issues raised by the newspaper, and at the same time take measures to overcome and completely handle the current situation of environmental pollution caused by waste in the area. The handling results shall be reported to the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Provincial People's Committee, the Department of Information and Communications, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Nghe An Newspaper before July 30, 2013.
