Evacuating more than 6,000 people to avoid floods

On the morning of September 20, the Flood and Storm Prevention Center of the Central Highlands said that in the face of flooding in the following rivers,storm number 8Localities have evacuated 3,124 households with about 6,020 people from areas at risk of flash floods, landslides and deep flooding in 5 provinces and cities.

From September 16 to 19, Quang Tri province evacuated 1,500 households; Thua Thien-Hue moved 180 households in deeply flooded areas in 3 districts and towns; Quang Nam brought 1,388 households to safety... In addition, Dak Lak organized rescue and brought 256 people to safety in Ea Sup district.

There were 3 deaths (1 in Quang Tri, 2 in Dak Lak), 8 missing people (2 in Quang Nam, 6 in Dak Lak) and 4 injured people (2 in Quang Tri, 2 in Quang Nam) after storm No. 8.

Property damage included 18 collapsed houses (QuangMale3, Kon Tum 1, Dak Lak 14), 2,491 hectares of rice were flooded, 3,530 hectares of crops were damaged.

Meanwhile, over the past 3 days, provinces from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai have had heavy rain, commonly from 200-300 mm. Currently, the rain has decreased across the region but is still concentrated in Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces.

Floods on rivers from Quang Binh to Quang NgaiMalehas also peaked and is falling, forecast to fluctuate at alert level 1.

Reservoirs in the Central Highlands are currently at relatively high levels, some reservoirs are almost full and continue to discharge water, such as: Dak Loh (Kon Tum), Buon Yong, Krong But Ha (Dak Lak), Nui Ngang (Quang Ngai) and Dinh Binh (Binh Dinh).

The hydroelectric reservoirs of Ba Ha River (Phu Yen); Yaly, Pleikrong (Kon Tum); Se San 3, Se San 4, Se San 4A (Gia Lai); Buon Kuop, Serepok 3 (Dak Lak) are discharging flood water.
