(Baonghean.vn) - In response to Vietnam Sea and Islands Week 2012, this morning, May 27, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment organized a delegation to visit and present gifts to officers and soldiers of the Mat Island Mixed Battalion.

The delegation offered incense at the Martyrs' Memorial of the Island; listened to the unit's activities report in response to this year's National Sea and Islands Week. Along with the task of strictly maintaining combat readiness to avoid being passive and surprised in any situation, the commander of the Eye Island unit organized to thoroughly educate officers and soldiers about the great significance and importance of the sea and islands; organized patrols to grasp the situation of the sea and islands; coordinated with the Nghe An Sub-Department of Aquatic Resources Protection in the protection work as well as propagandized to fishermen living in the area around the island to understand, raise awareness and strictly comply with the law on fishing and exploiting seafood.
