Shocking: Turkish player carries knife to slit opponent's throat right on the field
Sakaryaspor (Türkiye) captain Ferhat Yazgan received a series of cuts on his neck and face in a recent match against Amed SK.
The match between Amed SK and Sakaryaspor in the TFF Second League (Türkiye's second division) fell into chaos when a player attacked his opponent with a sharp object just before kick-off.
According to a video shared by Yeni Safak Spor TV channel, Amed SK player Mansur Calar hid a razor in his hand. He quickly approached and used the knife to cut Sakaryaspor striker Ferhat Yazgan's buttocks.
Calar again targeted the 26-year-old captain, striking him in the neck a few seconds later. Finally, amid the chaos on the pitch, Mansur Calar left a gash on Yazgan's face.
Yazgan later posted a photo of the injury on his personal Instagram after the match. "The opposing player attacked me right on the field. I hope you see it," Yazgan wrote.
Fans were shocked by the images and clips circulating on social media about the brawl. "That person deserves a lifetime ban," one reader commented.
"He must be a psychopath," one user shared on the Reddit forum.
"I don't think it was a razor blade, maybe some kind of screw or nail because the blade would have left a cleaner cut. Either way, he deserves a lifetime ban," one reader added.
According to Kurdistan 24, the "rivalry" between the two teams had taken place before. Amed SK players and coaching staff were attacked in the dressing room by Sakaryaspor fans. However, the article reported that there were no injuries in this incident.
Amed SK chairman Nurullah Edemen has spoken out about the behaviour of Sakaryaspor and their fans, calling it "ugly, disgusting and immoral".
