Bustling school uniform market in Nghe An
As the new school year approaches, the school uniform market in Nghe An is becoming more and more active. This year, uniform designs are diverse, purchasing power is increasing, but prices are stable…

Choosing to buy 4 sets of uniforms for her 2 sons to prepare for 1st grade and 1st grade, 6th grade, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (Hung Dung ward, Vinh city) said that although it is not the first day of school yet, she chose to buy early to avoid the rush. "Uniforms bought at this system are diverse in design, good fabric and mainly from reputable Vietnamese clothing brands. The price is also quite reasonable, only over 300 thousand VND/set, cheaper than the sewing cost" - Ms. Huong said.
Instead of buying ready-made uniforms, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha (Hung Dong Commune, Vinh City) went to a tailor shop because her two children are tall but too thin, so if she bought ready-made uniforms, they would be "too long but too wide". Ms. Ha said: "The first child started first grade so she had to buy a new uniform, the second child started third grade and the old uniform was too tight so she had to buy a new one. I did not register to buy at the school but chose the fabric myself to have it tailored for my children according to my wishes. I ordered it 3 weeks ago and came to pick it up now. The cost of both labor and fabric for the 2 uniforms is only over 1 million VND. Compared to last year, the price of sewing and the price of ready-made clothes has not increased".

Nowadays, in addition to ordering at school, parents can buy or have their uniforms tailored to fit their child’s measurements, choosing the fabric of their choice as long as it is the right color, style and has the school’s logo. Therefore, many parents choose to have their uniforms tailored and purchased for their children.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Sao Mai, owner of a sewing shop on Thanh Thai Street (Vinh City) said: “Our sewing shop has been sewing white shirts and colored pants since the beginning of July. Our customers are students of all levels in the city. Each set of umi fabric trousers and white shirts made of Japanese wrinkle-resistant lon fabric costs about 400,000 - 500,000 VND. At the beginning of this school year alone, I have been sewing about 100 sets of uniforms of all levels.”

According to garment processing establishments and tailor shops in the province, since the end of July, the number of orders has increased many times compared to normal. In addition to receiving orders from schools, this year the number of individual customers coming to tailor shops for tailoring and buying ready-made clothes is also quite large. The average cost of a set of school uniforms is about 270,000-320,000 VND, and ao dai is about 450,000-550,000 VND/set.
Professional uniform shops and clothing businesses prepare a quantity of goods to serve the needs of parents and students. Accordingly, uniforms of all levels and schools with pre-printed logos are sold in many stores, stalls and online.

Ms. Nguyen Anh Duong, a saleswoman at a garment company in Vinh City, said: “Since the end of July, parents have started buying uniforms for their children. However, this is the period when customers are the most crowded. There are days when we sell hundreds of uniforms to the market, both wholesale and retail. This year, the price of input materials (fabric, needles, threads, etc.) has increased, but the company still keeps the uniform price the same to compete with other companies.”
Strolling around supermarkets and stores, school uniforms are displayed in visible locations. The items sold are shirts, trousers, skirts with many materials such as cotton, high-quality khaki, kate... Depending on the design, size, and fabric quality, the price of women's shirts ranges from 105 - 169 thousand VND/shirt; men's shirts 150 thousand VND/shirt; men's trousers from 105 - 172 thousand VND/pants.

Meanwhile, at traditional markets, retailers have also imported school uniforms since early July to meet market demand. Shirt prices range from 100,000 to 200,000 VND/shirt, pants from 180,000 to 300,000 VND/pants. The price of a set ranges from 180,000 to 350,000 VND/set depending on size and fabric.
Compared to custom-made uniforms, ready-made uniforms are 30% cheaper, with a wide range of designs and sizes, so it's easy to choose the uniform you like and get it right away without having to wait for it to be made...
