Obon Festival (mid-August) is also known as Vu Lan Festival, a sacred Buddhist festival in Japan. Obon is a long holiday across Japan (5-6 days). During this time, Japanese families often gather together. This is an opportunity for them to reunite with their families, to pay respect to their ancestors, their homeland, to have fun, to entertain, to eat, to strengthen their relationships...

On this occasion, Nghe Tinh Associations in Japan also simultaneously organized exchange and meeting activities, attracting thousands of Nghe An - Ha Tinh children living, studying and working in the "land of the rising sun" to participate.

Like many other activities, due to the geographical conditions of the host country, each Nghe Tinh association is often organized separately within the framework of each province or city.

In Saitama prefecture, the meeting of Nghe Tinh compatriots took place enthusiastically with the participation of more than 130 people. This is also a fixed gathering place for Nghe Tinh compatriots in the Kanto region in recent years. Here, everyone gathered to organize group games, play soccer, have a food festival and enjoy cultural performances.

During this meeting, our fellow Nghe An compatriots here have developed a number of charity plans to “connect love” to help some difficult cases in Japan and Vietnam, and at the same time pay attention to supporting our new arrivals to find suitable jobs.

In Okayama Prefecture, fellow Nghe Tinh compatriots gathered at Shibukawa Beach in Tamano. More than 80 people participated in the exchange, set up tents, lit a campfire, played folk games, set off fireworks, and danced in a joyful and cozy atmosphere.

Le Van Hieu (from Nam Dan) attended the exchange and shared: “Every time we organize a meeting with our fellow countrymen, we eagerly wait. In a foreign land, we can gather together on holidays, have fun, speak Nghe dialect, exchange thoughts, and encourage each other when we are far from home, which feels warm and meaningful.”

On this occasion, not only in Saitama, Okayama, but also in many other localities in Japan such as Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya... our fellow countrymen from Nghe Tinh also took advantage of the holiday to organize exciting and practical exchange activities.

It is known that every year, Nghe An compatriots in Japan often organize meetings during long holidays such as Golden Week and Obon festival, to strengthen the relationship between compatriots, increase understanding and sharing, and help each other in life away from home.
