Nghia Hong (Nghia Dan)

As one of the communes located far from the district center, with its livelihood primarily based on agriculture, Nghia Hong still faces many difficulties, especially in transportation. Recognizing these difficulties and understanding the commune's policies, the people of Nghia Hong have voluntarily contributed money to build a cultural center and football field; donated land and contributed labor to build roads…

Hong Duc hamlet is one of the leading units in the commune's land donation movement for road construction. Households whose land is affected by the road voluntarily donated 3,000 square meters for the project. The initiative was launched in early December 2011 and received strong support from the people in a short time. In just two days, 83 households, along with the hamlet's machinery and equipment, cleared trees and leveled the land to create a wide road. Mr. Nguyen Viet Ky, one of the hamlet's major land donors, happily said: "Having a wide road to travel on this Tet holiday makes us feel happy. The newly opened road saves people a lot of money on gasoline each day because without it, people would have to take a roundabout route, which is difficult, especially in the rain."

In Hong Tho hamlet, the hamlet's leadership committee has focused on building a vibrant cultural life through practical and effective initiatives. To provide a playground for children to practice sports, residents contributed 12 million VND to purchase cement, sand, and gravel. In addition, the people contributed labor; those skilled in construction worked as laborers, while those without contributed as helpers. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thai, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, stated: "As one of the five pilot communes in Nghia Dan district's new rural development program, the commune prioritizes mobilizing internal resources from the people to effectively implement the program. From the movement of donating land for road construction and contributing money to build cultural centers and other cultural projects, the commune continues to promote and replicate these models to accelerate the new rural development process and fundamentally change the face of the commune."

Quy Chau

Given its mountainous location, the district has played a significant role in mobilizing the people to contribute to the xây dựng nông thôn mới (new rural development) program.

Currently, Quy Chau district has established grassroots mass mobilization units in all 142 villages and hamlets, and built 271 successful mass mobilization models of various kinds. The activities of these models are very diverse, linked to various aspects of social life, such as: mobilizing people to introduce high-yield plant and animal varieties for intensive cultivation, building cultural villages and cultural families, establishing scholarship funds, and mobilizing people to donate land... A prime example of these movements is Ke Bon village in Chau Hanh commune. The entire village has over 100 households and 457 inhabitants, whose lives are still difficult and whose main source of income is agriculture. However, when the district People's Committee decided to build a road to the small industrial zone in Tan Lac town, the people here voluntarily donated land for the project. Among them, the family of Ms. Lang Thi Ly donated the most land, over 30 square meters, and demolished their entire 30-meter-long fence along with some of their fruit trees.

In 2011, the district had 5,914 families achieving the "Cultural Family" status, 95 out of 142 villages achieving the "Cultural Village" status, and 60% of agencies and offices achieving the "Cultural Unit" status. In the future, Quy Chau district will continue to innovate and improve the quality of mass mobilization work within the political system, linking mass mobilization with the construction of new rural areas, striving to achieve 65% of cultural families, 70% of cultural villages, and 90% of cultural agencies and offices, contributing to building an increasingly prosperous and civilized homeland.

Nghi Hung (Nghi Loc)

To date, the Party Committee and people of Nghi Hung have basically completed 3 out of 19 criteria for building new rural areas. These are the criteria for electricity grid, schools, and health stations. In 2011 alone, the commune invested nearly 20 billion VND to build 3km of roads, Hung Dong Secondary School, and the commune's People's Committee office. To secure funding for construction, the commune government implemented a minimum 10% budget saving, cutting unnecessary expenses to focus on investing in essential infrastructure projects. Nearly 1 billion VND and thousands of square meters of land have been allocated for the construction of the commune's welfare facilities.

Recognizing the development of traditional craft villages as a "highlight" in the local new rural development program, the commune government has invested nearly 4 billion VND in building roads to serve these villages. The broom products of 140 households in the two craft villages of Khe Cù and Xuân Sơn are not only sold within the province but also to neighboring provinces such as Hà Tĩnh and Quảng Bình. To date, the two craft villages of Khe Cù and Xuân Sơn in Nghi Hưng have been recognized as traditional craft villages by the Provincial People's Committee. This serves as a foundation and motivation for the people of Nghi Hưng to overcome immediate difficulties and continue to maintain and develop their craft villages in the future.

Along with investing in infrastructure development, Nghi Hung actively encourages people to participate in agricultural production development projects supported by the State. In areas of unproductive agricultural land, the commune government has encouraged people to consolidate land plots to build high-economic-value livestock farms. To date, the entire commune has nearly 20 farms and family farms with nearly 7,000 head of livestock and nearly 55,000 poultry.
