(Baonghean) - Residents of Dien Ky commune (Dien Chau) reported: For many years, hundreds of households living near Dien Chau Mineral Processing Enterprise have had to live with dust and noise pollution. Dien Chau Mineral Processing Enterprise is located in Dien Ky commune.

Based on the people's feedback, we went to the locality to verify the reality. Ms. Ngo Thi Hoa, living in village 7, whose house is 500m from the mineral processing factory, indignantly said: The factory's operation has turned the lives of the people upside down because of the dust. Every time I take out the clothes to dry and put them in the stack, just shaking them lightly will cause the dust to fly up, and the tables and chairs can't be cleaned even after wiping them several times a day; Then the noise every time the factory grinds ice…”. Mr. Tran Quoc Toan, who lives near Ms. Hoa’s house, was upset: The noise every time the factory puts ice in to grind, adults have to get used to it, but the worst thing is that children are often startled. Many days, I just put my child in bed to sleep, then the factory poured ice in to grind, and I was startled and cried out… To verify the incident, Ms. Phan Thi Nam, who lives not far from the factory, took the reporter to the kitchen to witness. Ms. Nam said that she had cleaned once in the morning, but by 9 o’clock, dust had already accumulated around the refrigerator, table, and stove. If you don’t rinse the dishes before eating, you can only eat… dust. Not only the residents, teachers and students of Quang Trung Private High School, near this factory, also expressed their frustration. Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, the school’s principal, said: The ice grinding mainly takes place at night, so the school is less affected by the noise, but the stone dust is unavoidable. Although the school is a distance from the factory The land is empty, surrounded by trees, but the dust cannot be stopped. The tables and chairs are covered with a thick layer of dust even though they are cleaned regularly. On days when the wind blows from the south, the water poured out to drink is already covered with dust before it is ready...

Dien Chau Mineral Processing Enterprise located in Hamlet 7, Dien Ky Commune is a unit under Nghe An Mineral Joint Stock Company, which has been operating for more than ten years. The enterprise specializes in mining and processing white limestone. Because it is located right in a residential area, production has a significant impact on the lives of surrounding people. Discussing this issue, Mr. Ngo Van Ty - Vice Chairman of Dien Ky Commune People's Committee, said: The existence of the mineral processing enterprise here is due to the transfer from the former Cau Bung Grinding Factory. Because the enterprise is located right in a residential area, the people's complaints about pollution due to noise and stone dust are well-founded. Even the commune People's Committee headquarters (in Hamlet 3 - PV) is also affected. Regarding this issue, the commune as well as interdisciplinary delegations have worked and inspected the enterprise and requested measures to minimize pollution from stone dust. The locality has created conditions for the enterprise to borrow surrounding land to plant trees to reduce dust. The enterprise has also treated the dust by spraying water around the production area, but in reality it cannot avoid dust.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Su, Director of Dien Chau Mineral Processing Enterprise, said: The enterprise has received feedback from local people as well as local authorities about pollution caused by dust and noise during the production process. With its responsibility, the enterprise has implemented on-site remedial measures, from planting more trees, watering... however, it is difficult to minimize it. Currently, we are rushing to build a factory in Nam Cam Industrial Park, expected to relocate in mid-2015.

Thus, it can be seen that the people of Dien Ky commune have reflected that Dien Chau Mineral Processing Enterprise has caused environmental pollution during the production process, affecting people's lives. Therefore, along with speeding up the completion of the factory in Nam Cam Industrial Park for early relocation, in the immediate future, Dien Chau Mineral Processing Enterprise needs to regularly implement measures to limit stone dust, arrange appropriate times to grind stones to limit noise, especially at night, along with that, functional units need to increase inspections and reminders, not to let the factory's production affect people's lives, leading to the current frustration.
