The total area of spring corn without kernels in village 2, Linh Son commune is up to 2.5 hectares. Ms. Le Thi Dung's family has been growing corn in this field for three years, but this is the first year that all 1,000 square meters of spring corn are green and thick, but the corn has no kernels. There are 4 other households in the village who share the same fate as Ms. Dung's family.
The entire area of spring corn without seeds of Hi Dung's family is single hybrid corn NK6654, this corn variety was registered by the Agricultural Department of Linh Son commune to buy from the Plant Seed Station of Anh Son district, at the price of 82 thousand VND/kg. Currently, households in the village are very confused and worried, not understanding the reason why. With the loss of this spring corn crop, households in village 2 will face many difficulties such as lack of money to buy seeds and fertilizers to continue producing the crop.
It is known that in the spring crop of 2011, Linh Son commune had 3 villages buying NK6654 single hybrid corn seeds with a weight of 60 kg for planting and up to now, there is only information that in village 2 there is a phenomenon of corn without seeds. Based on the reflection of the people, the commune reported to the district and sent officers of the Department of Agriculture to inspect the actual situation. Initially, it was determined that in the field of village 2, Linh Son commune, there are 2.5 hectares of NK6654 single hybrid corn seeds without seeds.
Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Anh Son district affirmed: "The reason why the corn has no seeds is because of the seeds. Therefore, we request that Sygenta Seed Company and Bac Giang Seed Company take responsibility for compensating and supporting the people..."
In order for the people of village 2, Linh Son commune, to continue to enter the crop production smoothly, it is recommended that the authorities and seed suppliers promptly identify the cause of the phenomenon of NK6654 corn not producing seeds. At the same time, there should be a policy to support households whose spring corn areas do not produce seeds so that they can reduce their difficulties and have conditions to produce the crop.
