At least 14 Somali soldiers were killed and more than 20 others were injured in a suicide attack carried out by the Shebab extremist group in the south of the country, officials said on August 22, according to AFP.
The attack took place inside a military training facility on the outskirts of Kismayo, which houses Kenyan and Somali soldiers from the African Union peacekeeping force.
Mohamed Abisalad, a Somali army officer in Kismayo, said: "A minibus carrying explosives exploded in the training area of the military base."
The Shebab group, an offshoot of Al-Qaeda, has claimed responsibility for the bombing and said the number of victims was much larger than reported, up to 100 people./.
