The Somali government announced on October 29 that it had dismissed Intelligence Director Abdillahi Mohamed Sanbalooshe and Police Chief Abdihakim Dahir Said after the bloody attack on the Nasahablod Hotel in the capital Mogadishu that day left 29 people dead.

A statement after a cabinet meeting by Somali Information Minister Abdirahman Omar Osman said the two officials were fired for serious negligence in connection with the incident.

Earlier, local authorities said a car bomb exploded outside the Nasahablod Hotel (about 600 meters from the Presidential Palace), after which five armed rebels stormed the building.
Just minutes later, another car bomb exploded near the former parliament building nearby.
Police said the fighting lasted for 12 hours and that 12 of the victims were security personnel.

The extremist group al-Shabab has claimed responsibility for the incident.

The bombing comes just two weeks after a horrific truck bombing in the capital Mogadishu killed 358 people.

Security forces have arrested five suspects in connection with this attack./.
