Russian security agencies are successfully implementing one of the most important directions of their activities - the fight against foreign "colleagues" on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Recently, on March 31, 2016, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested Lieutenant Colonel Yuri Ivanchenko, an employee of the Central Counterintelligence Department of Ukraine (SBU). This man came to Russia to visit relatives and wanted to attract the attention of the FSB with his ability to exploit sensitive information to then infiltrate the Russian security apparatus. According to information from the FSB investigation, with the support of a "double agent", the Ukrainian Security Service and the CIA intended to set a trap to capture the FSB employee in Kiev. The Ukrainian citizen did not have time to commit any illegal acts that would harm Russian security, so he was only deported and not allowed to enter Russia.

On May 19, 2015, it was reported that an SBU spy was unmasked in Crimea. According to the LifeNews TV channel, a resident of the Ukrainian city of Dnepropetrovsk, Anton Lokot, 24, went to Crimea to collect intelligence on the location of coastal missile units of the Black Sea Fleet. He was tasked with recruiting local residents who did not support the peninsula's annexation to Russia. The Ukrainian "James Bond" hero was expelled from the territory of the Russian Federation.

On the night of May 13-14, 2013, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) arrested a CIA officer Ryan Fogle, who was operating under the cover of the Third Secretary of the Political Department of the US Embassy in Moscow. FSB counterintelligence agents discovered special technical equipment with instructions for use by recruited Russian citizens. In addition, FSB officers also discovered a large amount of money and camouflage equipment when searching Ryan Fogle. The CIA agent was taken to the FSB headquarters and after completing the necessary procedures was handed over to the official representative of the US Embassy in Moscow.

On October 5, 2011, the FSB reported the arrest of Chinese citizen Tun Shenyun under the guise of an interpreter for delegations of Chinese officials who sought to obtain secret information on technical and repair instructions for the S-300 air defense missile system through Russian citizens.

On May 12, 2011, in Moscow, Israeli military attaché Colonel Vadim Leiderman was arrested on suspicion of espionage. The Israeli colonel attempted to obtain secret information from Russian citizens about Russia's military-technical cooperation with several Arab countries and former Soviet states. Russia designated Leiderman as "persona non grata" and forced him to leave Russia two days later.
