The difference between My Tam and diva

The history of modern music in its mature stage naturally unites Lam - Nhung - Linh - Ha around one name: diva. The artistic and market guarantee of this brand for more than 2 decades has allowed them to always appear together in major concerts. The latest is Five Golden Voices - Remembering Autumn in Hanoi.

The music night on August 12 at the Friendship Cultural Palace can be considered the next episode of Vietnamese Famous Singers - a program also organized by Media Max last month with 4 male voices. This time, it brings together 4 divas and My Tam. With this understanding, it suddenly seems that My Tam stands out with 4 sisters of the same brand as a pedestal (?).

It is not really necessary to ask whether My Tam sings next to the divas who are inferior or not. Because even though she is a junior, My Tam's career is not inferior, and is even more "aggressive" than her seniors. She is among the few singers who are capable of managing and trading her own voice and image in a systematic way. The difference when standing on the same stage perhaps comes from the songs and lyrics. My Tam's products are on a different level, a completely different segment from the 4 divas.

My Tam's appearance always makes the audience more excited than usual because the cheering group is overwhelmingly young. This age group always tends to be noisy and expressive. In response to the audience's enthusiasm, My Tam also has many playful responses. When suddenly two boys around 5-6 years old came up to give flowers, she confided: "Just like this, in a few years, it will be difficult to ask them to say they love me. So I will try to entice them while I can!"

When My Tam was confiding about love, that her type of love must be intense, "foolish, with no way out" and not "silent as if she didn't know anything" like in the song "Not Just Me", a female fan standing below shouted loudly that she loved My Tam. Her idol immediately said: "That type of love is a bit too much, my friend!"

When it was Thanh Lam’s turn, a middle-aged woman in black came up and gave her a bunch of flowers, then hugged Lam and chattered: “I love you, I love you so much. Even though your birthday is in June, I still love you…” As if to compensate the diva, although few people gave her flowers, she received more words of love?! While My Tam received almost a pile of flowers and gifts, the remaining singers each received at least a bouquet. Interestingly, My Tam and Thanh Lam in the red dress were given red roses. As for Hong Nhung in the black dress, the flower wrapping paper was also jet black.

As for the dress, Hong Nhung and My Tam also took a few minutes from the show. First, Hong Nhung asked the audience who was prettier, then whose dress was prettier. And she concluded that of course her dress must be prettier. Because it was the dress My Tam gave her. According to Nhung, this was the result of seeing My Tam wearing a beautiful dress, so she complimented her. Hong Nhung also told the audience the name of My Tam's fashion brand. In fact, they were all fashion products made by My Tam, but Hong Nhung looked prettier in it than the real owner. My Tam herself called her red velvet dress that touched the floor "overdone" which made her movement somewhat limited. Surely Ms. Bong's witty hosting also moved My Tam's fans. The proof is that in the following performance, the applause for Hong Nhung was just as loud as for My Tam.

My Linh had a more carefree and comfortable performance than the rest of the concert. In addition to her husband being the music director of the “homegrown” Anh Em band, it seems that My Linh also holds the microphone most accurately, fully conveying the beautiful tones of her voice. That said, Anh Quan and Anh Em are still the class guarantee for any concert and any singer can rest assured when they support them.

My Tam neatly resolves suspicions of Khac Hung plagiarizing music?

The official singing of “Dau chi rieng em” on the stage of “Nam noi ca vang”… can be considered My Tam’s strong response to the unflattering accusations about the originality of this song. The author Khac Hung himself had to admit the complete coincidence of the chorus of the two songs, which he explained was due to the use of the same chord progression. And he had never heard the song “Hoa Tinh” that moved his aching heart.

The key to confirming or dispelling plagiarism accusations is the statement of the original song owner. Just 2 weeks after My Tam released Dau chi rieng em, an online newspaper got an answer from Hai Sinh - the author and singer of Tinh lai dong long thap dau. Hai Sinh commented: "The feeling is not plagiarism, there are only one or two accompanying lines at the climax. We think it's all just a coincidence." He also added that in China, there must be 8 similar accompanying notes to constitute plagiarism. It is unclear what kind of "accompaniment notes" are, but just counting the number of normal notes is enough to see the rare similarity between the two choruses.

Note that the newspaper interviewing Hai Sinh belongs to Cat Tien Sa - the organization that organizes many singing competitions with My Tam as a judge. It is also very possible that My Tam herself arranged this incident by contacting Hai Sinh privately right after the plagiarism rumor spread, leading to the above affirmation to save Khac Hung's honor. Of course, this is completely just a suspicion as My Tam still refuses to make an official statement about the incident.
