Gelatin, a popular food additive in ice creams, jellies and candies, is made from pig body parts.

TheThe Sun, a video titled "Gelatin - The Real Story" about the production process of food gelling agents, shared by Alina Kneepkens on Facebook on August 25, attracted more than 7 million views within three days of posting.

In the video, pigs are burned with a blowtorch and their skins are removed. The skins are then boiled in water to create gelatin, an odorless additive. The tendons, ligaments, and bones of the pigs are also used to create the final product.

The video has sparked a heated debate between animal rights advocates and sweet tooths, with nearly 14,000 comments under the video.

"Animals do not voluntarily give their lives to us, we take their lives. Animals also value their lives as much as we do and have the right to coexist on this planet alongside humans," wrote an account named Adrian V Gosling.

Many people disagreed with the above opinion. "Most candy is made from animal by-products. I don't believe you can stop eating candy. They don't kill pigs to make candy. They just take advantage of the leftovers from the food industry," another Facebook account argued.
